Winter flows are coming....get your dry gear out.
  • I'll believe it when I see it.
  • Looking at the forecast this may be the week. I will be watching the weather, the gauge, and webcam.
  • The flows are not what I had hoped for,but I think I'm going to go for a couple of hours this afternoon. Anyone interested?
  • The forecast for new years eve day looks nice, maybe a bit windy, and even though the flows are looking low, I got some new gear I am itching to try out so I think I am going to head up in the afternoon this Saturday. Hope to see some friendly faces!
  • Monday January 30th. Forecast 45 degrees, sunny, and hopefully some nice afternoon paddling. Anyone wanting to join me? 3:00ish
  • BOOM.. It only took a couple of months but the water is coming down stream. At this time the gauge in Austin,MN has jumped from 50cfs yesterday to almost 800cfs today. Osage gauge is already at over 500cfs, CC only at 350cfs, but that is going to change. I'm going to be in CC tomorrow for a meeting and plan on paddling after the lunch hour. Forecast is for near 50 degrees and sunny!
  • River flowing? Hannah, when are you going out? I can't wait to get my feet wet.
  • Well it was not 50 or sunny, but 35 degees and 2000cfs was good enough. Dam Drop was a green roller into a secondary breaking feature that was short but kayak surfable. Doc's was a beast, the hole in the middle was very retentive. Exit was very fun, perfect level. I played there the most because I was solo and felt the saftest. Hope to get out the next couple of days, today at 1:00ish, tomorrow TBD. - FJ
  • Webcams appear to be down (leastwise I can't get there from home nor the office) which is a bummer because if I can't be on the water at least I wanted to share the experience vicariously.
Busy weekend so I won't be making it up there anytime real soon unfortunately - I'm jonesing for something other than chlorinated water!
  • Beginning yesterday (March 1) we started to have some problems with the cameras. Representatives from Circle K communications (the company that donates the equipment) and CharlesCity365.com (the company that donates the web-service) checked on the cameras today. Everything is working after they tweaked some settings, but if you notice the cameras down again (which could happen) please let us know at web2010@kayakcc.com.
  • Today the level was 1400cfs, met up with a couple of good dudes from Makato,MN. Dam Drop still was not surfable in a playboat, but still had the secondary feature breaking. Doc's was still very good, it seemed to be actually a little bit pushier than at 2k. Exit exam was still the most fun, given it had the least chance of giving you brain freeze. The boulder in the middle was starting to form the green spot that wants to sit you back on top of the pile or spit you off. Can't wait for these levels and warmer temps. Bring on the Spring Flows!
I should also will be out tomorrow at 3:00ish. -FJ
  • 1400 cfs was mint. it was good to float with you john. Nice work to all involved in getting this park running. Thanks.

  • Nice to see that you got on here Marty. I was glad to see some friendly faces on the water. The water is now much lower and warmer than that day! Hope to see you guys again soon, hit me up on here next time you head down. Good luck in the fields this spring, farmer to farmer. ---FJ
